For a first visit, an omakase counter can feel quietly ceremonious — and that is part of its pleasure. These are the questions we are most often asked at 実柚 ~ みゆ ~ MIYU, our Japanese omakase restaurant at Dempsey Hill, answered plainly so you can arrive at ease and simply enjoy the season. For the craft behind it, our complete guide to omakase goes deeper.
Where is MIYU, and how do I get there?
MIYU is at 13A Dempsey Road, Singapore 247694, within the leafy Dempsey Hill dining enclave — about a ten-minute drive from Orchard Road and the Central Business District. The nearest MRT stations are Napier and Orchard, and there is complimentary surface parking across the Dempsey Hill car parks. Full directions are on our Find Us page.
How much does omakase cost at MIYU?
Our lunch omakase begins at $128 (the YURI sushi course), with two further menus at $168. Dinner omakase is offered across three tiers — $228, $238 and $278. Prices are subject to the prevailing service charge and GST. It is our sincere intention to serve Edomae craft of genuine quality at honest prices; if you are weighing the options, our note on value omakase in Singapore may help.
How far in advance should I book?
The counter seats only a handful of guests at a time, so seats fill quickly. We recommend reserving about a week ahead for lunch, and two to three weeks ahead for dinner. You can hold a table on our reservations page.
How long does a sitting take?
An omakase is unhurried by design. Most guests plan for around ninety minutes to two hours at the counter, course by course, at the chef’s pace. It is an experience to settle into rather than rush — well suited to an unhurried lunch or an evening to remember.
Is there an option for guests who prefer no raw fish?
Yes. Alongside our sushi and sashimi menus, we offer cooked-food omakase — the AKA course at lunch ($168) and the AKAIBARA course at dinner ($228) — composed of prepared seasonal dishes without raw seafood. They are a considerate choice for guests who prefer their courses cooked.
Can you accommodate allergies or dietary requests?
Because each menu is chef-led and shaped by the week’s catch, we ask that you share any allergies or dietary needs when you reserve. Chef Ng Kam Kwan and his team will do their best to adapt the sequence where the season allows, and our cooked-food menus offer a ready alternative.
Is MIYU suitable for celebrations and business meals?
Very much so. The counter is intimate and quiet — at home for an anniversary, a birthday or an unhurried business lunch. If you are marking a special occasion, let us know in advance and we will gladly arrange a slice of cake or a candle with dessert, with our compliments. For larger groups, our private dining gives your party exclusive use of the restaurant.
Is MIYU a first-timer’s omakase?
It is. The setting is welcoming rather than formal, and the team is glad to guide you through each course. A little omakase etiquette never hurts, but nothing is expected of you beyond arriving curious and ready to enjoy the season.
How is MIYU rated?
MIYU is rated 5.8/6 on Quandoo and 4.6/5 on Google by verified diners — consistently recognised among Singapore’s best-value omakase experiences. You can read more on our reviews and press page.
